TRAFFIC PILOT

10/24/2007- Fetter Aviation is accepting applications for future openings for  full and part-time traffic pilots. This position involves flying a Cessna 172 carrying a traffic reporter for Washington, DC area TV and radio stations during morning and afternoon rush hours, Monday through Friday, up to120 hours per month.   We operate two flights each AM rush hour (0600-0900 & 0800-1000), a midday flight from 1100-1300, and two more during the PM rush (1500-1700 & 1530-1830).  There is also one four-hour flight each day on the weekend.

Full-time positions are scheduled for 30 to 34  hours per week.  Part-time positions require a minimum of two weekday runs (between four and six hours total) each week.

Requirements:
* Commercial with Instrument, current in C172
* 500 hours total time
* 100 hours in Cessna 172, 25 hours in right seat.
* US Citizenship;
* No criminal record;
* Clean FAA & driving record;
* Familiarity with the Washington, DC area.

The insurance company wants to see numbers, but real world experience counts too. Those with prior experience in a similar operation (traffic, pipeline, or power line patrol, etc) who do not have the minimum hours will be considered and are invited to apply.   What we're looking for is a blend of knowledge, intuitive skills and judgment that can come only from making your own decisions out in the everyday GA world.   It is critical though, that you come in the door qualified to fly a Cessna 172 from the right seat.

You will be flying a mixture of Thielert diesel and conventionally powered 1977-1980 Cessna 172's that are IFR certified with dual nav/com radios,  glide slope, DME, audio panel, Rosen visors, built-in intercoms, GPS with XM weather, and TAS.  Conventionally powered aircraft have Tanis preheaters and Powerflow tuned exhaust systems  (the diesels don't need them).  These aircraft are dedicated to this operation, and not subject to the abuses of primary training.

These are contract positions offering steady weekday work and the opportunity to build hours quickly in decent airplanes and a comfortable work environment without having to put up with the uncertainties, aggravation and liabilities of instructing. Liability and workers compensation insurance are supplied. Pay starts at $16/hour during training and $18/hour when qualified with potential for more.  As long as you get the job done, we'll stay out of your hair and everybody will have a good time. You won't get rich (we're not either) but it's a decent place to work with a low aggravation factor.  You are welcome to use our planes for currency at our expense, and if you want to take your family to the beach or something on the weekend just buy the fuel and we're happy.

The upside is that if you do well here, you can go just about anywhere. Our former traffic pilots are working at a number of airlines, corporate flight departments and charter operations.  In short, most of these folks know how we work, who we hire, how we train, and what we expect. That gets you to the top of the list when they're looking for pilots, and they call here first.

PLEASE NOTE: We post openings ONLY on our own site, AOPA and Climbto350.com. We DO NOT post on the Skyjobs or Aviationcareers websites due to past problems with both sites.  Anything you may have seen there or elsewhere was posted without permission.
